More time for your mission. Less time chasing sign-ups.
Philantree is building a simpler way for nonprofits to share volunteer opportunities, reach new people, and know who's coming.
Built on conversations with nonprofits
We interviewed eight organizations, including food pantries, shelters, youth programs, faith communities, and veteran services. A few themes came up again and again.
"We need people when we need them"
Interest isn't always the problem. The hard part is finding volunteers who are available at the specific times and places help is needed.
"We use too many tools"
Sign-ups in one place, hours in another, updates by email or group text. Even organizations with good systems are juggling several of them.
"Word of mouth only goes so far"
Most organizations recruit through people they already know. That works, but it makes it hard to reach new volunteers or people with specific skills.
"Keeping volunteers is as hard as finding them"
Volunteers stay when they feel appreciated and connected to the mission. That takes time many organizations don't have.
Starting with the essentials
The first version of Philantree will focus on the basics nonprofits told us matter most, and we'll add more only when it actually helps.
- An organization profile that explains your mission and how people can help
- Opportunity listings with date, location, requirements, and how many people you need
- Simple sign-ups so you can see who's coming in one place
- Volunteer feedback to help you improve future events
- Privacy by default. Volunteer information is shared only for coordinating the events they sign up for
Join our pilot list
We're looking for a small number of nonprofits to try an early version of Philantree with real volunteer opportunities and tell us honestly what works and what doesn't.
Joining the list doesn't commit you to anything. We'll reach out to learn about your organization first.
